PostSubject: World Rivers Day Sunday 29th September - TAC Clean UP   Thu Sep 12, 2013 11:00 pm

It is the World Rivers Day on the 29th Sep and organisations, people will be doing their bit all over the world to mark it. The WRD is held on the last Sunday of Sep each year and this is our first time considering what to do.

We are discussing options but likely a clean up along the semi tidal between Ham and Teddington including the lock island. Its not going to be too extensive or outlandish, just a good old fashioned TAC event on the Sunday morning.

If you are out on the day fishing or elsewhere near the river and cant join us, then you can still be involved by doing your bit wherever you are. Again picking a bit of litter or such like. Do take some photos to show we are all involved.

Be great if people can join us on the 29th, a social as always, maybe a dangle after.

cheers

I would love to help out! I'll keep you posted if I can't make it. Smile I've seen extensive amounts of rubbish on the island near the weir, its disgusting. Some good quality signs, warning, fines etc etc should be made visible to anyone who treats the river banks and country side like a rubbish tip. Not only that but the plastic from 4 packs of beer can strangle fish and birds. I've seen dozens of them and "DESTROYED" them. lol Smile happy fishing.

Can I suggest we meet at Teddington Lock for 10am as main target will be the island, then can move down (or up) stream from there.

Andy you can come a few ways, the lock postcode is TW11 9NG and I always park in Riverside drive and they walk up. There is a path straight to the lock, around 5 mins walk.

As for directions, I guess M4 then cut across through Kew, anyone?

Mentioned if anyone wants a dangle after the tide is quite small and I think will be on the low anyway, so plenty of silvers of chuck some lures around.

Very pleasant walk and clean up between Teddington and Ham today, lots of fishy banter always. Smile

Thanks for making the effort chaps, going to try and do something at least once a month now I have my weekends back, so anyone is welcome. Its never too formal with the TAC, just bunch of anglers doing whatever we can.

Here are a few pics:
