The Environment Agency is investing £3 million pounds this autumn and winter as part of a programme of works to maintain and replace navigation structures on the River Thames. The investment is needed to maintain the River Thames as a reliable navigation for boaters and visitors to enjoy safely.

Listed below are the locks that will be closed during the 2013/14 investment programme. The locks will be closed from the first date listed and will re-open on the day after the final date.

Grafton Lock 4 November 2013 to 28 February 2014
Replacing the lock gates

Rushey Lock 4 November 2013 to 20 December 2013
Re-timbering the bank protection in the lock and tail lock cut

Osney Lock 4 November 2013 to 20 December 2013
Refurbishing weir A and replacing the guard piles on weirs A and B

Iffley Lock 4 November 2013 to 14 February 2014
Replacing the support piles on the tail layby

Sandford Lock 6 January 2014 to 14 March 2014
Refurbishing the lock chamber

Abingdon Lock 6 January 2014 to 14 March 2014
Inspecting and re-sheeting the lock gates

Culham Lock 4 November 2013 to 31 January 2014
Inspecting and refurbishing the lock gates

Whitchurch Lock 4 November 2013 to 31 March 2014
Closure of the road bridge downstream of the lock for a re-build

Blakes Lock 4 November 2013 to 31 January 2014
Re-sheeting and inspecting the lock gates

Shepperton Lock 4 November 2013 to 14 February 2014
Refurbishing the lock chamber

Teddington Lock 4 November 2013 to 13 December 2013
(Skiff Lock) Refurbishing the lock gates

Teddington Lock 30 September 2013 to 28 February 2014
(Barge Lock) Refurbishing the lock chamber walls and timbers

Please note: Teddington Launch Lock will remain open during the closure of the Skiff and Barge Locks.
