Anyone got the Angling times, not sure if this is a wind up but someone has posted an article from this weeks Times saying carpers to be fined by EA for sleeping at rods. Looking for more info on this.

there fellow angler in the next swin land a fish etc that's ok then.
what a load of rubbish.
one law for them and one for us.

About time too! I have no problem with someone dozing by their rods, but those 'anglers' (?) that rely on their wireless alarms whilst chatting to a mate 50 yards away are certainly not in charge of their rods - same for those who tuck themselves away in sleeping bags, with the bivvy zipped up, how can that possibly be considered as being in charge of the rods.

Nick 'em all I say - maybe it'll leave some space on the banks for proper anglers!

Hmm, a whole can of worms I think

I have been fishing this spring and doing a few nights, to be honest if anyone actually gets a decent sleep I would be amazed. Personally I have a remote which is right next to my ear and is loud enough, I am always very close to the rods, never had a problem.

I guess its more 10 cans of euro fizz and spark out that's the worry

looking these up, National coarse fish and eel fishing byelaws

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/recreation/fishing/37943.aspx

it clearly stats, that you can have as many rods set up as you like, but can only fish ever 2 or 4 depending on how many rod licences you have, and due to the fact he had 3 rods, 2 were cast out, the other was set up and bait in the water/mud next to the rod rest, this can init self be classed and being in use as the bait water in the water,

When fishing with multiple rods and lines, rods must be placed so that the distance between the butts of the end rods does not exceed three meters.

I take it, that the above means that if you are using 4 rods, the first rod must not be more then 3 meters away from your last rod that is in use and not set up ready to use

Unattended rods
Be sure you are in control

It is unlawful to leave a rod and line, that is unattended, in the water or over which sufficient control can not be effected.

found the above, but cannot find section 10 as per the news report, can someone help me out there

the thing about this law is, its crap, any person who knows the law will rubbish this in court, and make the EA look so simple, as for sleeping at the rods, I for one have had 40 winks, cat nap, or I was just inspection the insides of my eye lids for a minute or two, every one has done it at one stage, so doing the above is against the law, I am never more then 1 1/2 meters away from my rods, or right next to them, there are to many veribles to take into account, again, this will get kicked out of court,

this in my opinion is what the the rule should be

It is unlawful to leave a rod and line, that is unattended, in the water or over which sufficient control can not be effected. Maximum distance from rods will be 5m, if sleeping than bite alarms have to be used.

Licence Duties and Conditions
Licence duties and conditions are set for 2012 and 2013, but we are currently considering our licence duty proposals for 2014 and beyond. We will be reviewing certain aspects of the licensing system to give better service to rod licence payers.
We will be addressing the number of rods allowed per licence as part of this review. Options for change are currently being considered, but there is strong support to allow three rods on one licence for stillwater fishermen. We will be consulting on firm proposals early next year. The cost for the extra licence would depend on the number of anglers involved, but would probably not exceed £10.

found the above, a bit worrying, are they going to add £10 to the £27 licence = £37, or are they going to stay with the £27, then £10 per extra rod, plus, to allow 3 rods to be used on stillwaters and only 2 on rivers. To me is totle "Discrimination" for the river Fisherperson" and this is going against my Human rights not to be treated as an equal person in Fishing, as most of my fishing is done on the rivers, so why cannot i use 3 rods the same as someone fishing on a stillwater, again totle discrimination against the river fisherperson, I know lots of people who only use one rod, why should they pay the same as someone using 3 rods, in my opinion, you should be able to just pay £10 per rod, per year, a bar code on with all your details on and how many rods you can use, and the fishing licence should be one that should last you a life time, only to be changed if you move, get married and have to change name, that way, or you your self need a replacement, it saves a lot of posted money, every year you go to post office with card, hand it over, they scan it, you pay , or do it over the internet, bobs you uncle and arnty, renewed licence, hasn't cost the EA any money, more money in the EA's bank to spend on fishy things, ever year, the EA must spend over a £1,000,000 in posted to re-new licences, thats £1,000,000 down the sewer,

and please, do not even get me going about "A fishing Licence should last a year from when you got it", leave that for another day pirat

I hope the above makes sense, if not, thanks for reading anyway

Good post Keith Smile

Its about time they had the option for a 3rd rod, having to buy 2 licenses is not right. As for 3 rods on a river, they will come round on that as the way many fish flowing water has changed, so many more now Carping.

We need to keep an eye out for any consultation, we get them direct so will post up as and when

agree good post keith.
I buy 2 licences every year as I fish with 3 rods sometimes
would be good if they done a 1 rod 2 rod and 3 rod max as 4 well that's to much.

been looking as well about section 10 and all it sais is whats been said already.

I don't understand why this has only happened now as I have been asleep at
Hampton court a few times when the ea have come along.

I think that there is more to this than reported otherwise
the ea would be having a field day with reporting fishermen everyday.

FOUNd 6 people fishing, and one 13year old boy, they all thought they could fish today, all but one packed up, this person had come all the way from Battersea by bus, he said many thanks, but sod it, I have not  come all this way for nothing, even the 13 year old boy thought he could fish today as he had a fishing licence and he thourght it said fish on the 15, I then informed, that it was after the 15th you could fish, 2 said that they had got maggots from local fishing tackal shops today, and they had not said any think about not fishing today,  the 13 year old said this is the first time he has got a licence, (£5), and he was only going on wot the licence said, this is how messed up the fishing rules are, if the EA had turned up, this poor, young lad, who had saved up lots of his pockit money and in-er-cent of any crimes,  because the fishing rules are so massed up, they would have had to take all his fishing kit, to be destroyed just like a car that has been stopped because it has no insurance, which was given to him by his late Granddad, get his parants down, to sign the paper work, this boy would have been def-er-stated/tromitized by all this, and would properly never fish again as he would have been mentally and emorosely scared for life. I then saw he had 2 seats, I asked him who the other seat was for, he replied that it was his granddads sit and he was fishing with him, it sadden me and brought a tear to my eyes when I informed him that he had better pack up, the look on his sadden, disappointed face said it all, he didn't wont anyone taking his late Granddad fishing kit off him, he didn't wont to stop fishing, he informed me that he had been looking forward to fishing today, as he has promised his late granddad  who took him out fishing on a regoler bases that he would fish the first day of fishing, wishing he was still by his side, I could see the tears welling up in his young eyes, the sadness of it all, as he slowly packed up, I wished him well and that tomorrow I hope, that the weather is fine, the fish are biting and that he caches a PB in his late Granddads name, Tight Lines, young Sir,  as I rode away on my trusty stead, I looked  back and saw his shoulders twitching up and down, and his hand go into his pocket and  get a handkerchief out and blow is nose and wipe his eyes,
