Interesting 2nd meeting on Thursday and that is despite it taking 2 hours to get there Rolling Eyes

There will be notes coming out that I will post up, but found it increasingly frustrating as the meeting went on as it was clear no one in the room, bar me, had any tangible knowledge of the Thames and this was all about the impact of abstraction on our great river.

Few of my questions could not be answered including which invertebrates they are sampling for, basics. Another cracker was that during the surveys they found there was no disernable Barbel population in the Thames, excuse me! Needless to say had to put that one right.

It will get there as no choice, the report is forming part of the Water Rescource management programme (WRMP) and has to be in by the end of August, somewhat of a tall order. Upside for us is that we will end up with a fantastic data set of all the lower reaches, so all the ecology and biodiversity and importantly independent from the EA or any Hydro developer.

Proves alone how important it is for angling to be represented at all these meetings.

3rd meeting yesterday an all dayer in Reading. The full report is progressing and should be able to post some results in due course.

The actual surveys and data gathering has been over 2 years and will be the most comprehensive report into the river ever produced. Very few surprises to be honest, maybe no surprise, did though get the fry mortality at the abstraction intakes raised again as it kills more fish than anything else on the river.
