Why Does London's river need the Thames Tunnel?

Many groups were invited, both in favour of the infrastructure project and those against, and some in-between. Very constructive evening for the most part, that both I and Ed attended on behalf of the TAC. There were some good speakers but by far the best of the lot was Tony Juniper (formerly involved with Friends of the Earth), see here: Tony Juniper Wikipedia, whos balanced pragmatism towards the need for the tunnnel was extremely refreshing.

There were a number of naval gazing detractors of the project that quite frankly astonish me with their naivete, I seriously think that the majority haven't moved beyond first base - and whilst we as a club highlighted in the TACs Thames Tideway Tunnel Consultation Response (SEE HERE), the need to ensure that the cost of the project isn't paid for solely by Thames Water customers, and also that they mitigate water poverty - the need for the tunnel is beyond questioning.

I personally sensed that Thames Water, and all those in favour of the only practical solution in the medium term on the table, can smell blood! The project will go ahead, but it's still a question of when, and the longer the start is delayed, the more it is going to cost... build it already!

We are only a few days away from the 1st anniversary of the big fish kill, if a stark reminder was ever needed.
