It may just have been the conditions after all this cold rain. I popped over to see the weigh in on a small club match on Sunday morning. A lake that has lots of roach, rudd and perch produced just 3 fish. All roach, 1 tiny one but the other 2 went 1-05 and 1-05-08. The guy who came second was gutted.

that is surprisingly low. I fished the match lake 3 times over the winter and had good results even in cold with a good haul of small carp and earlier in the summer with really good mix bags of perch, Roach and crucians. I was catching on all manner of methods from different areas too. I generally fished the banks nearest the entrance but have had good recent results from the deeper parts too. Bill Rushmer fished there recently too for the Mail and had a good bag of Roach. Like you say though the weather may have played his part. If the sun is shining the carp will be right on the top and surface baits scored really well with good old bread crust doing the business.

Morning All,

The Fishery Manager has today confirmed that Saturday the 26th is fine for this match. I will be there with him on the Friday to peg out the required swims in the best areas.

Can I please ask if you havent already contacted me regarding your interest then please do so before Friday the 25th so that I can confirm with the manager how many pegs we will need.

It will be £8 per peg.

Has anyone got any preference of times? I was thinking maybe 9am-5pm?

I will have to let you know nearer the day as I some times work on a Saturday.
(9-5) 8 hrs might be a bit long to keep fish in a keep net, I think matches are normally 5 hrs. Although I'm no match angler.

As I thought, I won't be able to make it - don't think I'll be able to fish at all for at least the next few weeks.......

Hi Will it does seem to have gone quite, It looks like I will have to go into work for a couple of hours but I will be down for a social even if I miss the start of the match. Is there a minimum number to have a match and how many have we got, going back through the thread it looks like 7/8.

Morning All,

Apologies for not posting here for afew days, Been busy at work for once!!!

Can I ask for anyone who is at least possibly coming or def coming to let me know as I need to contact the Fishery and advise them of numbers so that we can choose pegs on the match lake.

If there are a distinct lack of numbers then instead of a match we can just make it a social/fish in

Juniors are more than welcome also

Morning All,

Just to let you know that as numbers interested havent been that great I have decided to cancel the match this weekend. However if people still want to fish as a social gathering instead then feel free as time on the ban is what its all about

Regards,
Michael
