PostSubject: EEL monitoring   Thu Mar 29, 2012 10:06 am

hi all
just had an e-mail from joe from the ZSL, as i put my name down for monitoring any east end location and chose bow lock on the river lee. there are other locations such as the hogsmill, crane, wandle, cray, brent, thames and the medway. i have witnessed many pollutions on my local river and the eel is usually the first decent sized fish to be caught when the pollution has gone and they are in decline so i want to help. at the thames estuary when i witnessed the survey at grays we netted only 1 little bootlace.

Nice one Andy. A couple of us are being trained next month on the Molesey weir.

I believe the ZSL are still looking for volunteers so anyone who wants to help monitor eels, register your interest on here and we'll get you booked in.
