Just received an email from the Angling Trust regarding the Thames Tunnel, inviting interested groups to attend a meeting on the 30 th January at Portcullis house.
I think it would be a good idea if several members of TAC could attend, instead of the usual single member representation.

Sorry had this to post up today:

Thames Tunnel Now is a group of eighteen environmental and wildlife charities and amenity groups which is calling for fast delivery of the Thames Tunnel project to stop raw sewage in the River Thames.

We are arranging a reception in January to discuss these issues with recreational and sporting groups and users of the river, and would be delighted if you were able to join us.

Ocean rower and environmental campaigner Roz Savage has very kindly agreed to attend and speak at the event.

Keith Arthur is also speaking

The event is being hosted by Zac Goldsmith MP in the House of Commons, and the details are as follows:-

8pm on Monday 30th January 2012

The Attlee Suite, Portcullis House,

House of Commons, London SWIA OAA.

Please RSVP by replying to this email. Please also print off this email to bring with you on the night, and allow sufficient time for the security bag checks at Portcullis House.

It should be a very interesting evening, we do hope you can come along.

With best wishes

Post your names and up on here asap and I will forward them on santa

This is what kicked it all off...

I'm going James, and I will be meeting with someone quite early (not from the TAC) and having a spot of dinner before I make my way to Portcullis House for around 7.45pm.

Here perhaps http://tinyurl.com/72w2h6a

Whatever, I should be at Portcullis House (unless my friendly EA chap from yersterday has alerted the powers that be and had me barred!)

Plan at present (for James Annear and I) is to meet at (one of) the exits to Westminster tube at 7pm.
Looks like there's an exit right across the road from Big Ben so I'm going to wait there, the entrance to Portcullis House is just around the corner. (I can't find any more detailed info about which exit number that
might be.)

Pretty sure it's Exit 4 Ed, was up there last week for work.
As you might imagine security is tight - airport style x-ray and possible body search so leave the baiting needles and swiss army knives at home Laughing

Stunning turn out last night, i thought it was going to be half a dozen people in a small room, but the place was rammed with over fifty people, (loads of suits), and some political big hitters.
Three things stood out for me, Keith arthur,s brilliant presentation, the attendance of Bazalgettes great grandson,
but the real highlight was the talk given by Roz Savage the Ocean rower, it was,nt until i got home that i realised i had been sitting in the company of a true English hero, that title is banded about too often these days and given to chavs and wannabees, but it really is humbling when you think about what that lady has done, and i would put her on a par with the only other real hero that i,ve met and that person was the late, great Sir Bobby Moore.

Laugh of the night was Stewart (Ipswich) from the EA,s "Gay pipe". affraid
Pleasure to meet you Richard and i hope you got home alright Paul.

Time for the talking to stop and the diggers to get working.

cheers
james

Here's the BBC London TV coverage, unfortunately they seem to have cut the interview with our own Mr.Harvey this time in preference to the two girls, ah well!

Cheers Ed, had an apology through from the beeb as didn't have space for us or the RSPB but matters not, Roz is brilliant.

Cheers guys was a great night, I would estimate around 100 people were in the room, James sums it up very well.

Report from the Wandsworth Guardian..

Slight inaccuracies but good all the same, the reporter I think was quite new.

Just found these on the camera. There are some great shots and TV footage of Roz Savage rowing up the CSO etc, but this is what it looked liked from where I was.... Laughing
