folks the EA apologise for the short notice, but hey their busy people

10.00am at shepperton lock, this saturday may 7th

if your serious about becoming a river guardian, you gotta try your hardest to attend

they've set aside a meeting room and have all the legal stuff

as usual post your interest on here, and we'll do our best to sort lifts for those that need them

places are limited, due to the size of the room available, so another opportunity will be available 2 weeks later

I was not best pleased when I turned up for the meeting and there was no one else there and the lock keeper new nothing about it.
It was not until I got home and looked on here that I realized the meeting was at Shepperton lock and I went to Teddington.
WHAT A DOZY TWONG.
Sorry for missing it, I will attend the next one. How did it go.

m8, we all have dozy twong moments

John Sutton, the EA head honcho for our area, gave the presentation, a thoroughly, thoroughly nice chap
he's responsible for 4000km of waterway in the Thames West Area, thats one 'ell of a venue

the whole thing lasted a couple of hours and covered topics ranging from flood defence to enforcement and our legal standing as river guardians

basically such is his wealth of experience from working with the EA for nearly 30 years, that our enthusiasm and inquisitive minds took him off topic frequently, from the biggest pollution incident in UK history at Hungerford due to a natural toxin, to trapizodial channels such as the Mole Relief Channel, and loads more besides

he readily answered all our questions, applauded the efforts we engaged in, and will be fully supportive of our future endeavours

regarding our guardian scheme, we are to continue, as is
ON NO ACCOUNT WERE WE ENCOURAGED TO APPROACH ANY PERSONS ENGAGING IN DODGY BEHAVIOUR

the instruction was, information is king, both nothing unusual, as well as what shouldn't be happening

clarification on what fish can be legally taken
15 fish under 20cm in length
1 pike under 65cm
any number of non-native fish of any size

one point raised, was why the police dont get involved with illegal fishing
it seems this will continue, resources, priorities are needed elsewhere

thanks to john and those that turned up, and a mahoosive thankyou to keith

NEXT ONE IS 21ST OF THIS MONTH
